1980 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Bolgheri

The 1980 Bolgheri Sassicaia comes from vineyards with limestone-rich soils at 80–400m altitude and west/southwest exposure. A cool vintage allowed extended ripening. It underwent 13 days of fermentation with pumping over, followed by malolactic fermentation, and aged 20 months in a mix of French and Yugoslavian barrels, half new and half used.
