"The cellar was so dark I picked the wrong vintage but no matter, this remains one of Italy’s best wines for quality. The color is a distinct garnet-red with a nice though unusual concentration for a Monfortino, perhaps due to a hot growing season that enhanced the texture. The intense aromas include black cherry jam, red fruit and watermelon along with typical mentholated and ethereal notes.
