1996 Louis Jadot Les Amoureuses

"In 1996 the vines in the small parcel of Jadot les Amoureuses were only ten years of age, as the plot had not been in ideal shape when the domaine took it over from the old Clair-Daü estate. Despite the relatively young vine nature of the ’96 Amoureuses, this is a dynamite wine in the making. The bouquet is deep, pure and beautifully complex, as it jumps from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, red plums, a delicate touch of the gamebirds to come, smoke, a very complex base of soil, coffee and an exotic topnote of eucalyptus. On the palate the wine is fullish, deep and refined, with beautiful focus, fine-grained tannins, lovely acids and superb length and grip on the complex and dancing finish. A terrific wine, I would give the ’96 Amoureuses another five or six years in the cellar to allow it to fully blossom." 93/100 - John Gilman
